A reported casualty on a Nottinghamshire rail track has been confirmed to be a teenage boy who was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

The 14-year-old, who has been named only as Josh, was fatally struck by a train in Burton Joyce, near\u00a0Nottingham<\/a>, just after 7pm on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Paramedics attended the scene, near the village\u2019s rail station, but could not save him.<\/p>\n

Floral tributes were laid at a railway crossing a few minutes\u2019 walk from the station which connects the village to the banks of the river Trent.<\/p>\n

Detectives are not treating the incident as suspicious, though it\u2019s expected that an inquest will be held.<\/p>\n

Local MP Michael Payne said his \u2018heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and loved ones of the 14-year-old who lost their life\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018No family should ever have to endure such a devastating loss, and I know the whole community will share in their grief,\u2019 the Labour parliamentarian added.<\/p>\n

\u2018I want to express my sincere thanks to the first responders who attended the scene.<\/p>\n

\u2018At this incredibly difficult time, no further details are being released in order to respect the privacy of the family, who must be allowed the space and peace they need as they face the days ahead.<\/p>\n

\u2018My thoughts remain with all those affected by this heartbreaking event. I know our community will keep the family in their hearts as they navigate this unimaginable loss.\u2019<\/p>\n

East Midlands Railway previously confirmed that major delays to two routes passing through Burton Joyce were connected to the incident.<\/p>\n
