Prince Harry<\/a>\u00a0could be assured of taxpayer-funded security again after all, with the Home Office reported to have ordered a review of the threat level.<\/p>\n The loss of his full-time security while in the UK has been a\u00a0long-running issue for the prince<\/a>, who says it makes it \u2018impossible\u2019 to bring his wife and children to visit due to safety concerns.<\/p>\n He\u00a0took the government to court<\/a>\u00a0over the decision he should receive a lower level of protection after quitting as a working member of the royal family, but lost an appeal in May.<\/p>\n The Home Office has now ordered a threat assessment for the first time since 2020, The Sun\u00a0reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Harry wrote to\u00a0Shabana Mahmood<\/a>\u00a0shortly after she was appointed Home Secretary, and submitted a formal request for a risk assessment to the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), which is overseen by the\u00a0Home Office<\/a>, a source close to the duke said in October.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ravec has now instructed its Risk Management Board to reassess his threat level, the Sun reported.<\/p>\n The process is said to already be underway, with a decision expected next month.<\/p>\n Before stepping down as a senior royal and moving to Canada with his family, Prince Harry and his family received the same full-time police protection currently granted to\u00a0King Charles<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Queen Camilla<\/a>, the Prince and\u00a0Princess of Wales<\/a>, and their three children.<\/p>\n After 2020, Ravec decided the Sussexes would get a \u2018bespoke\u2019 security service, where they would have to give 30 days notice of any plans to travel to the UK, and each trip would then be assessed individually for threat levels.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Harry\u2019s lawyers argue he\u00a0\u2018inherited a security risk at birth, for life\u2019 due to being sixth in line to the throne. They say he is also a target from extremist threats because of his two tours of combat in\u00a0Afghanistan<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n During Harry\u2019s last visit to the UK in September, a \u2018known stalker\u2019 came \u2018within feet\u2019 of him on two occasions, according to a report in The Telegraph.<\/p>\n He had offered to help fund police protection, but said he was not willing to simply make his own security arrangements, as private bodyguards would not have access to the latest threat intelligence.<\/p>\n In 2022, the Duke\u2019s representatives said he wanted to bring wife Meghan, son Archie and daughter Lilibet to visit from the US, but he and his family are\u00a0\u2018unable to return to his home\u2019 because it is too dangerous.<\/a><\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/badvibes.live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/SEI_275795214-4c5c-300x200.webp\")
