Volodymyr Zelensky<\/a>\u00a0has suggested a deal with\u00a0Russia<\/a>\u00a0to \u2018end the bloodshed\u2019 could be struck this week.<\/p>\n The Ukrainian president confirmed in a post on Telegram that his officials will hold talks with the\u00a0US<\/a>\u00a0today on a draft peace plan to\u00a0end the war with Russia.<\/p>\n The negotiations will then be followed by a virtual meeting of the so-called coalition of the willing of European nations tomorrow.<\/p>\n The wartime leader wrote on Telegram: \u2018We are finalizing\u00a0work<\/a>\u00a0on the 20 points of a fundamental document that could define the parameters for ending the war, and we expect to\u00a0deliver this document to the United States in the near future, following our joint work with\u00a0President Trump\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0team and partners in Europe.\u2019<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Zelensky\u2019s post went on: \u2018We are working very productively [with the Coalition of the Willing] to guarantee future security and prevent a recurrence of Russian aggression.<\/p>\n \u2018The week may bring news for all of us and to end the bloodshed.\u2019<\/p>\n The cryptic intervention came after it emerged Donald Trump warned Zelensky he had until Christmas to accept a peace deal.<\/p>\n The ultimatum was communicated by US peace envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff in a two-hour phone call with the Ukrainian President last week.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The US president also accused European leaders of being \u2018weak\u2019 for failing to find a peace agreement in an interview with Politico on Monday.<\/p>\n Zelensky said last night he was working \u2018very actively\u2019 with European allies to draft a peace proposal.<\/p>\n The Ukrainian president said yesterday that his new peace proposals comprises 20 points \u2013 down from 28 \u2013 after some \u2018obvious anti-Ukrainian points were removed\u2019.<\/p>\n He said there was\u00a0still no agreement on giving up territory<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 something that\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0believes is necessary for peace but\u00a0Ukraine<\/a>\u00a0and Europe have long resisted.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Volodymyr Zelensky\u00a0has suggested a deal with\u00a0Russia\u00a0to \u2018end the bloodshed\u2019 could be struck this week.
