After the weekend\u2019s\u00a0No Kings protests<\/a>\u00a0across the\u00a0US<\/a>, De Niro has urged his fellow Americans to keep up the pressure on the 47th president.<\/p>\n

Organisers, who oppose Trump\u2019s immigration, education and security policies, hosted some 2,700 events across all 50 states.<\/p>\n

\u2018We can\u2019t let up,\u2019 De Niro told MSNBC. \u2018Cannot let up on him because he is not going to leave\u00a0the White House<\/a>. He does not want to leave the White House. Anybody thinks he, oh, he\u2019ll do this, he\u2019ll do that, it\u2019s just deluding themselves.\u2019<\/p>\n

He added, \u2018It\u2019s a classic bully situation. We see it, and there\u2019s no other way to face a bully. You have to face him and fight it out and back them off and back him down. That\u2019s the only way this is going to work.\u2019<\/p>\n

The No Kings protests were joined by nearly seven million people, according to MSNBC. ICE\u2019s immigration crackdown \u2013 branded by some as \u2018ruthless and inhumane\u2019 \u2013 was a key issue in the nationwide demonstrations, which even saw Trump deploy the National Guard, a move later declared illegal by an LA judge.<\/p>\n

Cuts to federal programmes were also major motivators for protestors, with millions taking to the streets in major US cities including\u00a0New York<\/a>,\u00a0Washington DC<\/a>,\u00a0Chicago<\/a>, Miami and\u00a0Los Angeles<\/a>. Organisers said it was the largest single-day demonstration against a sitting president in modern history.<\/p>\n

De Niro is one of the many Hollywood stars to speak out in support of the No Kings rally, which came one day after Trump had declared he is \u2018not a king\u2019 in an interview with Fox News.<\/p>\n

He also warned, \u2018Don\u2019t forget I can use the Insurrection Act\u2026 And that\u2019s unquestioned power,\u2019 referring to the centuries-old law that authorises a president to send the military into US areas to stop a rebellion.<\/p>\n

\u2018The original No Kings protest was 250 years ago,\u2019 De Niro said. \u2018Americans decided they didn\u2019t want to live under the rule of King George III.<\/p>\n

\u2018Now we have a would-be king who wants to take it away: King Donald the First. F**k that.\u2019<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Game of Thrones star\u00a0Pedro Pascal<\/a>\u00a0also turned up to demonstrate in LA, writing on his\u00a0Instagram<\/a>, \u2018PROTECT #Democracy,\u2019 while Kerry Washington posted videos and photos from the protest, saying she was \u2018sending so much love and gratitude to everyone\u2019.<\/p>\n

The White Lotus star Murray Bartlett posted a selfie from the demonstration, for which he wore a custom No Kings hat, and said: \u2018Wonderful to peacefully gather with community and stand up for the rights of all.\u2019<\/p>\n

Say Anything star John Cusack told CNN at the protest that if Trump \u2018thinks this place is going to be a fascist hub \u2013 no chance!\u2019<\/p>\n

Talking from Chicago, he said the city\u2019s message was: \u2018Go to hell!\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018No, you can\u2019t put troops on our streets. You can\u2019t create enough chaos to invoke the Insurrection Act so you can stay in power. We all know what your plan is,\u2019 the actor said, addressing the president.<\/p>\n

Jamie Lee Curtis\u00a0shared photos\u00a0from a protest and wrote, \u201cDemocracy in ACTION!\u2019 while Spike Lee encouraged his followers to \u2018GET UP STAND UP\u2019.<\/p>\n

Before the rally, actor Mark Ruffalo shared a message to followers on Instagram imploring them to join the protests.<\/p>\n
