Amanda Seyfried<\/a>\u00a0has doubled down on comments she made about assassinated right-wing politician\u00a0Charlie Kirk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The conservative activist<\/a>\u00a0was\u00a0shot dead in September while speaking at Utah Valley University\u00a0<\/a>in Orem.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old had been credited with energising the Republican youth movement and helping\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0win the 2024 election.<\/p>\n

However, he had also been widely criticised for his conservative positions, including opposing abortion, gun control, diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, and LGBTQ rights.<\/p>\n

Soon after his death Amanda \u2013\u00a0best known for her roles starring in films including Mean Girls\u00a0<\/a>and Mamma Mia \u2013 shared a post on\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0in which she labelled him \u2018hateful\u2019.<\/p>\n

After facing significant backlash, she later went on to share a statement, writing: \u2018We\u2019re forgetting the nuance of humanity. I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk\u2019s murder was absolutely disturbing and imaginable. No one should have to experience this level of violence. This country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings. Can we agree on that at least?\u2019<\/p>\n

The actress, 40, also captioned the post: \u2018I don\u2019t want to add fuel to a fire. I just want to be able to give clarity to something so irresponsibly (but understandably) taken out of context. Spirited discourse- isn\u2019t that what we should be having?\u2019<\/p>\n

A few months on, she\u2019s refused to back down about her commentary on Kirk.<\/p>\n

In an interview with\u00a0Who What Wear<\/a>, she declared: \u2018I\u2019m not f***ing apologising for that. I mean, for f***\u2019s sake, I commented on one thing.<\/p>\n

\u2018I said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes. What I said was pretty damn factual, and I\u2019m free to have an\u00a0opinion<\/a>, of course.\u2019<\/p>\n

After feeling her initial comment had been taken out of context, she added: \u2018Thank God for\u00a0Instagram<\/a>. I was able to give some clarity, and it was about getting my voice back because I felt like it had been stolen and recontextualized\u2014which is what people do, of course.\u2019<\/p>\n

Soon after Amanda\u2019s latest comments were published, she was met with support by those who said her remarks were justified.<\/p>\n

\u2018She\u2019s 100% correct. He has said some extremely hateful things. Being killed doesn\u2019t change that. Facts are facts,\u2019 Ryan posted on X.<\/p>\n

\u2018Standing firm in your words takes courage. If you speak from facts and conviction, there\u2019s nothing to apologise for in the first place,\u2019 Gina commented.<\/p>\n

\u2018People love calling women \u201chateful\u201d the moment they push back against a public figure. But if your own rhetoric is on tape, that\u2019s not slander \u2014 that\u2019s accountability,\u2019 user postixzer added.<\/p>\n

However, this week former\u00a0Selling Sunset<\/a>\u00a0star\u00a0Christine Quinn<\/a>\u00a0has also drawn the ire some after taking aim at Kirk\u2019s widow Erika.<\/p>\n

Since her husband\u2019s death,\u00a0Erika has taken over her husband\u2019s political organisation<\/a>\u00a0Turning Point USA and has been travelling across the\u00a0United States<\/a>\u00a0promoting his posthumous book, Stop, in the Name of God: Why Honoring the Sabbath Will Transform Your Life.<\/p>\n

Addressing Erika\u2019s packed scheduled, Christine shared on X: \u2018Erika Kirk be everywhere but with her kids.\u2019<\/p>\n

Although many backed her comments, others accused the reality star of being \u2018hateful\u2019 herself.<\/p>\n

Before and following his death, Kirke\u2019s rhetoric was described as divisive, racist, xenophobic, and extreme.<\/p>\n

In the wake of his killing, many celebrities shared their reactions online<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 with\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0talk show notably taken off air\u00a0<\/a>after he commented on the circumstances of the shooting.<\/p>\n

On an episode of his show, he said the following about Kirk\u2019s alleged killer: \u2018We had some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it.\u2019<\/p>\n

During his return to screens, Kimmel later shared: \u2018\u2018It was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man. I don\u2019t think there\u2019s anything funny about it.\u2019<\/p>\n

Tyler Robinson, 22, is facing multiple charges, including aggravated murder, after being accused of assassinating Kirk.<\/p>\n
