Former\u00a0West Ham<\/a>\u00a0star Michail Antonio is close to returning to club football \u2013 one year after his horrifying car crash.<\/p>\n Antonio was\u00a0involved in an accident in Theydon Bois,\u00a0Essex while driving home from the Rush Green training ground in his Ferrari FF<\/a>\u00a0on December 7, 2024.<\/p>\n It took emergency services almost an hour to free the 35-year-old\u00a0from his car after he collided with a tree, after which he was airlifted to hospital where he underwent surgery for a broken leg.<\/p>\n Antonio remained in hospital for three weeks and upon being discharged said\u00a0he was\u00a0\u2018grateful to be alive\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n Since the accident, the forward has not played any club football, though he has made three appearances for Jamaica.<\/p>\n His contract with West Ham expired at the end of the last season, though he remained with the\u00a0Premier League<\/a>\u00a0club over the summer as he continued his rehabilitation, even playing in an U21s match in August.<\/p>\n He has since departed the\u00a0London<\/a>\u00a0Stadium for good and has been working as a pundit for\u00a0TNT Sports<\/a>, appearing on their coverage of his old side\u00a0Nottingham Forest<\/a>\u2019s Europe League match on Thursday night.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But, according to\u00a0The Telegraph<\/a>, Antonio is keen on returning to the pitch and on Thursday held talks with Forest\u2019s arch-rivals\u00a0Leicester<\/a>\u00a0City.<\/p>\n The forward is now training with the Foxes and is \u2018under consideration for a short-term deal\u2019 at the King Power.<\/p>\n Leicester have struggled since their relegation from the Premier League and currently lie in the bottom half of the Championship table and with their finances tight, it\u2019s a deal that could work well for all parties.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Antonio spent a decade at West Ham, recording 83 goals and 43 assists in 323 appearances.<\/p>\n He played a key part in the Irons\u2019 Conference League triumph in 2022\/23 and is the club\u2019s all-time top scorer in the Premier League.<\/p>\n Speaking about the crash in March, Antonio revealed he could not remember the accident: \u2018It\u2019s weird, because the whole way through this, I have been told that I was awake and was speaking to everybody \u2013 the police, the people, and the person who found me.<\/p>\n \u2018My leg was completely shattered and they got me out and put a splint on it by the side of the car.<\/p>\n \u2018I shattered my femur bone in four different places. I had one single keyhole surgery.
