Sadness. Outrage. Incredulity. All emotions felt by the nation when EastEnders made one of its most baffling decisions back in 2012 \u2013 killing off undisputed icon,\u00a0Pat Evans<\/a>\u00a0(Pam St Clement<\/a>), one of its most recognisable, quotable and beloved figures.<\/p>\n

Honestly, we\u2019re still not quite over it.<\/p>\n

Though we did see Pat again when she was quite rightly resurrected for the death scenes of her beloved friend\/worst enemy\u00a0Peggy Mitchell<\/a>\u00a0(Barbara Windsor<\/a>), our longing to hear those iconic earrings jangle one more time has never quite subsided.<\/p>\n

Perhaps as an early\u00a0Christmas<\/a>\u00a0present for fans, \u2018Enders have resurrected her\u00a0one more time<\/a>,\u00a0much to the nations delight<\/a>, and fans have clapped eyes on the mythical matriarch for the first time in years in todays trip to Walford.<\/p>\n

Todays instalment drove home just how much\u00a0Nigel Bates<\/a>\u2019\u00a0(Paul Bradley<\/a>) dementia symptoms are intensifying. The episode opened with him seemingly lost amid the festive chaos of the Square and when\u00a0Phil Mitchell<\/a>\u00a0(Steve McFadden<\/a>), after collecting his friends suit from the laundrette, caught up with him, Nigel asked about Pat,\u00a0Roy (Tony Caunter)<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Barry Evans<\/a>\u00a0(Shaun Williamson<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Though Phil told him they\u2019d \u2018gone\u2019, Nigel still insisted that he needed a taxi. Phil gently coaxed him home, before finding\u00a0Julie<\/a>\u00a0(Karen Henthorn<\/a>) on the phone to a c<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

At the premi\u00e8re, amid director-extraordinaire\u00a0Lexi Pearce\u2019s (Isabella Brown)<\/a>\u00a0attempts to ensure all progressed smoothly, Nigel struggled when called to make his speech.<\/p>\n

Though Julie darted up to help, the bright light of the projector did nothing but highlight the bruising on her face.<\/p>\n

She desperately tried to cover when Nigel asked how it happened, though upon realising he\u2019d caused it, he was stricken with shame. Unable to continue with the festivities, Nigel ran, followed closely by both Julie and Phil.<\/p>\n

Though worried, they agreed, and, becoming confused again, he headed to the car lot, in search of Pat and Roy, and, again, looking to book a taxi. As the camera swung and took us into the reality Nigel is experiencing, he headed toward the Queen Vic, entering to find a decidedly 90\u2019s style Christmas party.<\/p>\n

\u2018What do you have to do to get a taxi in this place?\u2019 Nigel wondered aloud.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2026and a very merry Christmas to you n\u2019all, sweetheart!\u2019 came the reply from a voice that is sure to send waves of euphoric nostalgia through the hearts of many. As Nigel turned his head, Pat offered a chuckle and a wave as the \u2018duff duff\u2019 rolled in.<\/p>\n
