EastEnders\u00a0<\/a>spoilers follow for Tuesday\u2019s (December 23) episode which is now available to stream on\u00a0BBC<\/a>\u00a0iPlayer.<\/p>\n

A number of familiar faces staged a comeback to EastEnders as part of a special episode dedicated to\u00a0Nigel Bates<\/a>\u2019 (Paul Bradley<\/a>) storyline.<\/p>\n

Nigel, who was diagnosed with dementia last year, entered the Vic at the close of Monday\u2019s (December 22) offering and his memories and\u00a0altered reality took him back to the 1990s<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Before him was none other than\u00a0legendary Walford royalty<\/a>\u00a0Pat Evans<\/a>\u00a0(Pam St Clement<\/a>) and she wasn\u2019t alone, with\u00a0stepson Barry (Shaun Williamson)\u00a0<\/a>among those present.<\/p>\n

Barry was also joined by Nigel\u2019s ex wife Debbie (Nicola Duffett), who died in a hit-and-run in 1995, who shared a dance with her former flame.<\/p>\n

In emotional scenes, Nigel was confused about a present he\u2019d bought for Julie (Karen Hentorn), believing the item \u2013 which he\u2019d given to best mate Phil (Steve McFadden<\/a>) \u2013 was meant for his first wife.<\/p>\n

Speaking of Phil, the legendary hard-man\u2019s younger iteration also appeared in the episode, with star\u00a0Daniel Delaney reprising the role, while Teddy Jay starred as young Grant<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This marks the third appearance from Daniel and Teddy, who previously played as the Mitchell brothers in a special flashback episode in 2022, as well as an offering exploring Phil\u2019s\u00a0mental health<\/a>\u00a0earlier this year.<\/p>\n

BADVIBES<\/strong>\u00a0won\u2019t reveal all the details so as not to spoil it for those yet to watch on TV, but the episode proves to be a highly emotional one, which leads to Nigel\u00a0making a big decision<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The episode is the first to feature Pat Evans, also known as Pat Butcher, since 2016, when she appeared before long-time friend and enemy\u00a0Peggy Mitchell<\/a>\u00a0(Barbara Windsor) during her final scene.<\/p>\n

Pat, who made her EastEnders debut in 1986, was controversially killed off in 2012.<\/p>\n

Speaking on her return, star Pam St Clement said:\u00a0<\/em>\u2018I was both surprised and excited to be asked back to tread the streets of Walford once again and to be involved in Nigel\u2019s touching dementia storyline.<\/p>\n

\u2018It was lovely to be welcomed back by those with whom I had worked for so long. It was just like coming home.\u2019<\/p>\n
