The power of\u00a0The Celebrity Traitors<\/a>\u00a0knows no bounds, as the hit reality show even has a royal fan.<\/p>\n

This year, the likes of\u00a0Paloma Faith<\/a>,\u00a0Clare Balding<\/a>,\u00a0Tom Daley<\/a>, and more entered the Scottish Highlands castle for the ultimate game of betrayal.<\/p>\n

It was comedian and unlikely Traitor\u00a0Alan Carr<\/a>\u00a0who\u00a0came out on top<\/a>, though, securing \u00a387,500 for his\u00a0charity<\/a>\u00a0after deceiving historian David Olusoga and actor Nick Mohammed right to the end in the nail-biting finale.<\/p>\n

As the nation tuned in in its millions each week, another person who couldn\u2019t get enough of\u00a0Claudia Winkleman<\/a>\u2019s twisted\u00a0BBC<\/a>\u00a0game show was the Prince of\u00a0Wales<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Revealing the series\u2019 surprisingly very famous viewer,\u00a0Sir Stephen Fry<\/a>, a Faithful who the other contestants banished, has shared that the Prince and his family were completely \u2018locked in\u2019.<\/p>\n

The broadcaster and actor, 68, said on\u00a0Good Morning Britain<\/a>\u00a0of the show\u2019s impact: \u2018We had no idea what impact it would have across the demographic. Extraordinary.<\/p>\n

Sir Stephen added that he actively told presenter Claudia, who selects the Traitors after speaking to each of the players individually, that he did not want to be one, as he is not \u2018cunning\u2019 enough.<\/p>\n

\u2018The tension \u2013 I just don\u2019t think I would have been very good.\u2019<\/p>\n

To many viewers\u2019 surprise, one of the finalists was historian Olusoga, who, throughout the series, was relatively quiet at the roundtable and largely followed the wrong theories.<\/p>\n

Sir Stephen added: \u2018One of the interesting things is people accuse you of being intelligent, and David (Olusoga) is obviously hugely intelligent, but there are different kinds of intelligence; one of them is cunning. And I don\u2019t have that.\u2019<\/p>\n

Someone who did have that cunning edge, however, was presenter\u00a0Jonathan Ross<\/a>, who was praised for his game of deceit until he was eventually the first Traitor to be ousted from the series.<\/p>\n

Despite appearing to enjoy the role of the murderous Traitor, Ross opened up that he found the programme \u2018quite unpleasant\u2019.<\/p>\n

He said: \u2018I\u2019ll be honest with you, I didn\u2019t enjoy it. I don\u2019t think I enjoyed it as much as the Faithfuls did.<\/p>\n

\u2018I wound up kind of hating it because they\u2019re all such lovely people, and you\u2019re lying through your teeth, and then you would see someone banished and stand there and be quite emotional and know that they were leaving something they wanted to continue.<\/p>\n

\u2018They wanted more of the experience and realise that you played a substantial part in either engineering them out, but certainly not stepping in the way when you knew they were innocent.<\/p>\n

\u2018So it was, in some ways, quite unpleasant.\u2019<\/p>\n

However, he has no regrets.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m thrilled I did it. I had a great time. It was a great experience, a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all of us.\u2019<\/p>\n

The Traitors<\/a>\u00a0will\u00a0return to screens in the new year<\/a>\u00a0with its fourth civilian series, which\u00a0has already promised \u2018big\u2019 plans<\/a>\u00a0for the unsuspecting hopefuls.<\/p>\n

A fresh group of 22 contestants will compete for a potential \u00a3120,000 prize from New Year\u2019s Day, working together in physically demanding missions to build up the cash before facing off at the roundtable for banishments.<\/p>\n

But as they attempt to identify the Traitors, they\u2019ll have to fly under the radar just enough to avoid being murdered in the dead of night as well.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a sneaky game, but the Beeb is on hand to ensure fans don\u2019t miss a second of the action, as there\u2019ll be further content after each episode in the form of official spin-off show Uncloaked, hosted by Ed Gamble.<\/p>\n

In their official announcement, the broadcaster said: \u2018Expect even more twists, turns, secrets, epic missions, deception, banishments and, of course, murders aplenty.\u2019<\/p>\n

Casting is currently open for series 5, while The Celebrity Traitors has been\u00a0confirmed for a second instalment<\/a>, with the likes of Bob Mortimer and Daisy May Cooper among rumoured names to take part.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t expect to see Jeremy Clarkson\u2019s name in the lineup, though, as he\u2019s said he\u2019d \u2018never in a million years<\/a>\u2019 take part.<\/p>\n
