That\u2019s according to the\u00a0British Airways<\/a>\u00a0Holidays Travel\u00a0Trends<\/a>\u00a0Report, compiled in collaboration with Globetrender, the world\u2019s leading travel trend forecasting agency.<\/p>\n

The report, which forecasts trends that will influence how we travel this coming year, says adventure travel and virtual reality will be popular, including\u00a0theme parks<\/a>\u00a0inspired by\u00a0video games<\/a>\u00a0and streaming.<\/p>\n

Using insight from travel writers, journalists,\u00a0tourism<\/a>\u00a0professionals and wellness practitioners, it also compares the 15 most searched for British Airways Holidays travel destinations of 2025 for travel in 2026, as well as places that have seen an uptick in interest this year.<\/p>\n

The biggest travel trends for 2026<\/h2>\n

Sayonara social media: Uninhibited holidays<\/h3>\n

Farewell to the compulsion to document every meal and sunset, a growing number of travellers are signing out of social media so they can enjoy their holiday without the pressure to post.<\/p>\n

Part of this is driven by a desire for self-acceptance and a rejection of unattainable AI-generated beauty standards.<\/p>\n

According to a survey conducted by British Airways Holidays and YouGov, 31% of UK adults say that body-positive experiences are more socially acceptable now than a decade ago, and 27% of 25\u201334-year-olds would consider taking part in at least one such experience in the next year.<\/p>\n

That can only mean one thing: saunas, spas and stripping off.<\/p>\n

Emma O\u2019Kelly, author of Wild Sauna, explains the shift: \u2018Even though we can see anything we want through a screen, we can\u2019t actually feel it. But you can go to a sauna, and you can feel embodied\u2026 which you could
\nnever get watching a sauna video on TikTok.\u2019<\/p>\n

And getting comfortable with yourself abroad could lead to benefits back home.<\/p>\n

Survey data shows that around one in eight UK adults feel more confident in what they wear on holiday abroad than they do at home, and nearly one in ten say they feel just as comfortable wherever they are.<\/p>\n

This growing sense of ease suggests that time away from everyday
\npressures helps travellers reconnect with their bodies, relax, and enjoy the moment, a mindset that many are beginning to carry back into their day-to-day lives. Where do we book?<\/p>\n
