Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0reported.<\/p>\nA rescue helicopter was deployed as part of the search, which also involves RNLI crews, police, paramedics, an air ambulance and firefighters.<\/p>\n
In a statement, police said: \u2018During the initial searches, emergency services recovered an unconscious man from the water.<\/p>\n
\u2018Despite the best efforts, we can confirm a 67-year-old man died a short time later at the scene.<\/p>\n
\u2018The circumstances around his death are not thought to be suspicious.<\/p>\n
\u2018Searches are still ongoing. Residents will continue to see an increased police presence in and around the area as the search continues.<\/p>\n
\u2018We would ask people to please avoid the area to allow emergency services to work efficiently and safely.\u2019<\/p>\n\n<\/div>

The service said: \u2018Called out, unable to launch lifeboat due to horrendous conditions\u2026<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2026 three metre waves breaking on our slipway which would knock the tractor and trailer sideways off the ramp.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the BBC, local Darrin Stevens said the weather is \u2018bitter\u2019 and \u2018freezing\u2019 by the beach, adding: \u2018It\u2019s not a good place to be, in the sea.\u2019<\/p>\n
He said of the emergency response: \u2018It\u2019s just blue lights, wall-to-wall from one side to the other.\u2019<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: \u2018HM Coastguard is responding to reports made at about 3.10pm of a number of people in difficulty in the water at Withernsea.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>

\u2018The\u00a0RNLI\u2018s inshore lifeboat from Withernsea and all-weather lifeboat from Bridlington are assisting, as well as Hornsea Inshore Rescue.<\/p>\n
\u2018Yorkshire\u00a0Ambulance Service has been sent as well as an air ambulance.<\/p>\n
\u2018Humberside\u00a0Police\u00a0and Humberside Fire and Rescue are also in attendance.\u2019<\/p>\n\n<\/div>

A spokesperson said: \u2018There are emergency vehicles around the central promenade area of Withernsea.<\/p>\n
\u2018We ask if people can avoid this area if at all possible and to take care because emergency vehicles will be moving in the area.\u2019<\/p>\n
