A member of\u00a0Anthony Joshua<\/a>\u2019s family has claimed the former heavyweight champion is set to retire from boxing.<\/p>\n Joshua was involved in a fatal crash in Nigeria last Monday<\/a>\u00a0when his vehicle crashed into a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Makun.<\/p>\n The 36-year-old escaped with only minor injuries<\/a>\u00a0but his close friends and team members\u00a0Sina Ghami and Latif \u2018Latz\u2019 Ayodele died at the scene. \u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n Their funerals took place at a\u00a0London<\/a>\u00a0mosque on Sunday with Joshua present to pay his final respects. He also provided his first update since last week\u2019s tragedy, sharing a photo on\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0of him alongside the family members of his friends with the caption \u2018My Brothers Keeper\u2019.<\/p>\n Joshua fought just 10 days before last week\u2019s fatal crash, knocking out\u00a0Jake Paul<\/a>\u00a0in Miami on 19 December.<\/p>\n He is yet to speak out on his future in boxing with his promoter Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing providing no further comment on their fighter since an initial statement released the night of the accident.<\/p>\n But Joshua\u2019s uncle Adedamola Joshua has now claimed the Briton is ready to walk away from the sport.<\/p>\n \u2018The major thing there is that he has retired from boxing. That is one thing that makes us glad because each time he\u2019s fighting in the ring, we are always carried away emotionally,\u2019 Adedamola told Nigerian outlet\u00a0The Punch.<\/a><\/p>\n Throughout his time in boxing, Anthony Joshua has kept a close-knit circle of friends and associates around him, plenty of those working silently behind the scenes during his ascent to the summit of the sport.<\/p>\n Both Ghami and Ayodele were part of that group, considered good friends having worked closely with him for years.<\/p>\n Who is Latif \u2018Latz\u2019 Ayodele?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2018Latz\u2019 is a long-time friend of Joshua\u2019s and has been part of the AJ team going all the way back to his maiden world title victory over Charles Martin in 2016.<\/p>\n Ayodele was Joshua\u2019s personal trainer and a dedicated Muslim having converted to Isam in 2012.<\/p>\n His Instagram feed is littered with images and videos of him alongside Joshua in the gym and relaxing away from it.<\/p>\n Just hours before the crash, he shared a video on Instagram of him and Joshua smiling and laughing over a game of table tennis.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Latif worked with a number of other prominent sports men and women with New Zealand rugby legend Sonny Bill Williams among those paying tribute.<\/p>\n According to his Facebook profile, he attended St Joan of Arc Catholic School in Rickmansworth, a few miles from Joshua\u2019s hometown of Watford.<\/p>\n Who is Sina Ghami?<\/strong><\/p>\n Ghami was Joshua\u2019s strength and conditioning coach, a role he held for more than a decade.<\/p>\n He was also the co-founder of Evolve Gym in London. Their website states Ghami was a qualified sports and exercise rehabilitator who specialises in musculoskeletal injuries and corrective exercise.<\/p>\n Ghami was at Joshua\u2019s side throughout his career, including his crowning moment against Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium in 2017.<\/p>\n His last Instagram story appeared to be a shot of Joshua\u2019s motorcade through Lagos.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n \u2018Each time he\u2019s knocked down, it is just like the heart is coming out of our chest. All these emotional feelings whenever he\u2019s fighting, it\u2019s too much trauma for us, also.<\/p>\n \u2018Now that he has said that he\u2019s leaving while the ovation is highest, we are happy.\u2019<\/p>\n Asked by the publication if Joshua has communicated that decision to the family, Adedamola responded: \u2018Yes\u2019.<\/p>\n Metro<\/strong>\u00a0have contacted Joshua\u2019s representatives and his promoter Matchroom Boxing for further comment.<\/p>\n Ayodele and Joshua were at Joshua\u2019s side throughout his rise to the summit of boxing. Ghami was Joshua\u2019s full-time sport and exercise rehabilitation coach with Ayodele, his friend from before his boxing journey began, a personal trainer.<\/p>\n Before last week\u2019s tragic events, Joshua had teased the possibility of a long-awaited showdown with\u00a0Tyson Fury<\/a>.<\/p>\n A battle between the British giants has been long-discussed, falling by the wayside on a number of occasions for various different reasons over the last five years.<\/p>\n\nWho were Anthony Joshua’s friends Latif Ayodele\u00a0and\u00a0Sina Ghami?<\/h2>\n
