An operation to seize\u00a0two \u2018ghost fleet\u2019 oil tankers<\/a>\u00a0linked to Venezuela and Russia was captured on video.<\/p>\n

Marinera, previously named Bella-1, was seized by the\u00a0US<\/a>\u00a0military, boosted by UK spy planes and a Royal Navy support ship.<\/p>\n

Another Venezuela-linked tanker, Sophia, was also captured by the US\u00a0in the Caribbean on Wednesday, according to the US Southern Command.<\/p>\n

Both vessels are suspected of being used to evade sanctions.<\/p>\n

Footage shared by secretary of homeland security\u00a0Kristi Noem on X shows a helicopter hovering over a vessel before US forces abseil and\u00a0storm<\/a>\u00a0the deck.<\/p>\n

The capture took place after a pursuit lasting almost two weeks as the oil tanker travelled through the waters between\u00a0Iceland<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Scotland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018One of these tankers, Motor Tanker Bella I, has been trying to evade the Coast Guard for weeks, even changing its flag and painting a new name on the hull while being pursued, in a desperate and failed attempt to escape justice,\u2019 Noem wrote.<\/p>\n

\u2018The heroic crew of the USCGC Munro pursued this vessel across the high seas and through treacherous storms\u2026\u2019<\/p>\n
