If you want to brave the freezing temperatures to walk around the world\u2019s northernmost capital city, you\u2019ll hear just one thing on people\u2019s lips.<\/p>\n

The residents of Nuuk, in Greenland, are talking about\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0and his\u00a0escalating threats to take over the island they call home<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0US<\/a>\u00a0President is said to be discussing \u2018a range of options\u2019 to acquire the Danish arctic territory, which\u00a0Copenhagen<\/a>\u00a0has stressed is\u00a0not up for grabs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Metro<\/strong>\u00a0has spoken to Nuuk locals about the atmosphere in their tiny city of 20,000 which they say is ridden with division and fear.<\/p>\n

\u2018People are talking about it everywhere,\u2019 says local Maliina Abelsen.<\/p>\n

\u2018People cannot sleep. People are afraid. People are anxious.\u2019<\/p>\n

Ms Abelsen, who served as Greenland Minister for Finance from 2009 to 2013, said the island had calmed down after the sting of threats made by Trump in 2025.<\/p>\n

Then the US attacked\u00a0Venezuela<\/a>\u00a0and captured\u00a0the country\u2019s president in a daring raid on January 3<\/a>\u00a0this year.<\/p>\n
