Storm Chandra will drench us again today, with the\u00a0Met Office<\/a>\u00a0issuing\u00a0weather<\/a>\u00a0warnings up and down the UK for\u00a0rain<\/a>, wind and even snow.<\/strong><\/p>\n

More than 100 areas are on flood alert this morning, with the majority in south-west England where Storm Ingrid wreaked havoc and\u00a0washed away part of a historic pier<\/a>\u00a0last weekend.<\/p>\n

An amber warning for rain is in place for south\u00a0Devon<\/a>, much of\u00a0Dorset<\/a>, southern\u00a0Somerset<\/a>\u00a0and south-east\u00a0Cornwall<\/a>\u00a0until 9am on Tuesday, where 30-50mm of rain could fall widely with up to 60-80mm over higher ground of south Dartmoor.<\/p>\n

Devon and Cornwall Police said there was \u2018significant surface water and areas of flooding across parts of the force\u2019 due to Storm Chandra, with many roads becoming \u2018unpassable\u2019.<\/p>\n

Dan Thomas, Devon County Council cabinet member for highways, urged motorists not to take the risk of driving through flooded roads.<\/p>\n

\u2018The roads just can\u2019t cope, we have a situation now where, wherever you live, there will be roads which are flooded,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

\u2018Some of those roads you will see crowning in the middle and you will know it\u2019s safe to drive through but other roads you might not be able to see, and the advice there is not to risk it.\u2019<\/p>\n

Less severe yellow warnings are in place for a more extensive area of southern England, as well as parts of northern England and\u00a0Scotland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Met Office said gusts of 60-70mph will affect eastern Northern Ireland, with possible 75mph gusts in coastal locations, adding that \u2018easterly winds of this strength are unusual and are likely to be impactful\u2019.<\/p>\n

An amber warning for wind is in place on the eastern coast of Northern Ireland from 5am to 9pm on Tuesday, with an additional yellow rain and wind warning for the whole of Northern Ireland for all of Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Where are flood alerts in place<\/strong>?<\/h2>\n

A yellow warning for rain is in place from midnight until midday on Tuesday for much of south-east England, and for south-west England and south and central Wales from 1pm on Monday to 10am on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

There were 69 flood warnings in place across England early on Tuesday morning, with the majority in south-west England and four in\u00a0Yorkshire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Flood warnings were also issued for Aberbothrie and the River Isla at Coupar Angus in Scotland, with 17 flood alerts active across Wales.<\/p>\n

Met Office chief forecaster Paul Gundersen said: \u2018Initially, strong winds will impact the Isles of Scilly, western Cornwall and south-west Wales which are still vulnerable after\u00a0Storm Goretti<\/a>, gusts of 70 to 80mph are possible here.<\/p>\n

\u2018Heavy rain is an additional hazard as it falls on saturated ground in Dorset and southern parts of Devon, Somerset and Cornwall.\u2019<\/p>\n

Which train lines are affected by cancellations and disruption<\/strong>?<\/h2>\n

National Rail<\/a>\u00a0issued a warning that \u2018poor weather may affect South Western Railway services until the end of the day\u2019.<\/p>\n

It said a number of railway lines are closed because of flooding.<\/p>\n
