A\u00a0budget airline<\/a>\u00a0is set to give\u00a0Ryanair<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Easyjet<\/a>\u00a0a run for their money, with new flights launching from\u00a0London<\/a>.<\/p>\n

From April 2026, German carrier, Condor, will offer three flights from\u00a0London Gatwick<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Frankfurt<\/a>\u00a0International, three times a day.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the first time that Condor has flown from any London airport, offering even more choice for those looking for a city break in\u00a0Europe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The first flight to Frankfurt is scheduled to take off on April 1, with prices starting from \u20ac99.99 return (a fairly reasonable \u00a388.07).<\/p>\n

Currently, for direct flights, travellers can fly British Airways from Heathrow, with fares on the same date, listed at \u00a3124 return.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, Ryanair flies from Stansted to Frankfurt Hahn for \u00a378.48 return. While Easyjet doesn\u2019t offer any direct flights to the German city.<\/p>\n

The new Condor route is also part of the airline\u2019s long-haul network, with passengers able to connect in Frankfurt onto the Caribbean, Mexico, Thailand and South Africa.<\/p>\n

Peter Gerber, CEO of Condor, said: \u2018With London Gatwick, we are adding another exciting metropolis to our city network, offering business travellers and city tourists even more options. The launch of this route is another clear signal of our growth in the European market.\u2019<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Jonathan Pollard, London Gatwick\u2019s chief commercial officer, added that he was \u2018delighted\u2019 to welcome Condor to the airport, noting that the new routes provide \u2018an important gateway to Frankfurt for passengers across London and the South East.\u2019<\/p>\n

London isn\u2019t the only hub that\u2019ll be benefiting from Condor\u2019s new routes. The airline will also be resuming its connections to Tbilisi\u00a0in Georgia and Sulaymaniyah in Iraq, with direct flights running from D\u00fcsseldorf\u00a0and Frankfurt, respectively.<\/p>\n

If you do happen to find yourself in\u00a0Germany<\/a>\u00a0and feeling inspired to continue your travels, you\u2019ll be able to jet off along these routes from December and June 2026.<\/p>\n

Frankfurt is often overlooked in favour of more popular German cities, like\u00a0Berlin<\/a>\u00a0and Munich, but it\u2019s still visited by around\u00a056 million<\/a>\u00a0each year.<\/p>\n

While it might be slightly more industrial than its cousins, it\u2019s acquired the nickname of Main-hattan (owing to the River Main, which flows right through it, as well as its blend of traditional architecture and modern skyscrapers). And for good reason, too.<\/p>\n

Experience the old town, picnic in the Palmengarten, try some authentic German cuisine or\u00a0ride the Ebbelwei Express tram. Plus, the old cobbled streets are ideal for exploring on foot. Walking tour, anyone?<\/p>\n

And no visit to Frankfurt would be complete without testing out some authentic German food.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Margarete<\/a>\u00a0restaurant is famous for dishing out Bratwursts galore (AKA, a German sausage), served with some apple wine and a side of Grune Sobe, which is a local speciality made of oil, vinegar and herbs.<\/p>\n

Covered in sweet batter and then deep fried, the city\u2019s elderflower clusters are perfect enjoyed sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon.<\/p>\n

When it comes to shopping, the MyZeil centre is worth marvelling at purely for the architecture. It\u2019s also home to Germany\u2019s largest escalator, if that kind of thing\u2019s your bag. And yes, it measures an impressive 46 metres.<\/p>\n
