Christmas\u00a0sandwiches<\/a>\u00a0are everywhere,\u00a0McDonald\u2019s December menu<\/a>\u00a0has been unveiled and there are\u00a0\u2018ridiculously\u2019 priced advent calendars<\/a>\u00a0on shop shelves.<\/p>\n

All the big brands are getting in on the action, including\u00a0Walkers\u00a0<\/a>who quietly launched a few new festive flavours last month.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0crisp<\/a>\u00a0giant introduced new limited-edition\u00a0Beef Wellington<\/a>\u00a0and Emmental Cheese options to its range, and also brought back a\u00a0Christmas\u00a0<\/a>classic: Sensations Glazed Honey Ham.<\/p>\n

In a post shared on\u00a0Facebook<\/a>, the\u00a0Very British Problems page<\/a>\u00a0revealed they\u2019d given the meat-inspired crisps a try and they couldn\u2019t get over the \u2018extraordinary\u2019 flavour.<\/p>\n

The review read: \u2018I like beef wellington. And these beef wellington crisps really do taste like beef wellington. Does that make me happy? No \u2013 it makes me disconcerted. Allow me to explain.<\/p>\n

\u2018I like beef crisps, chicken crisps, prawn cocktail crisps etc, not just for the taste, but because they don\u2019t actually taste like those things.<\/p>\n

\u2018Crisp flavours are vague, they\u2019re abstract. But the fact I can eat one of these beef wellington-flavoured crisps and somehow taste mushroom duxelles is, to me, a little creepy.\u2019<\/p>\n

They go on to share that the ingredients include dried tea leaves and rosemary extract but there\u2019s no mention of mushrooms, yet somehow the crisps really do taste of mushroom, with a \u2018subtle red wine gravy note as an aftertaste\u2019.<\/p>\n

The conclusion is that the experience of eating them is \u2018extraordinary\u2019 and while they do give them a \u20185 out of 5\u2019 as Walkers delivered on what they promised, they don\u2019t really like them, because they are too accurate.<\/p>\n

\u2018I want them to taste just a bit beefy,\u2019 they add.<\/p>\n

And they weren\u2019t the only ones left scratching their heads over the new crisps, as Nicky Coulthard replied: \u2018Hubby was just saying yesterday how they couldn\u2019t possibly have included the mushroom duxelles flavour\u2026His flabber has been well and truly gasted!\u2019<\/p>\n

Similarly, Axelle De Cock confessed the crisps had also \u2018creeped them out\u2019, saying: \u2018\u2018They did something here with beef and truffle. Also never imagined I would taste a beef and truffle dish but I did and it creeped me out too lol.\u2019<\/p>\n

Mary Sutton was a fan of the new flavours, writing: \u2018I liked them, but the emmental crisps are even better!\u2019<\/p>\n

And Michele Garrigan agreed, proclaiming: \u2018The festive Emmental ones are quality, though. I always think of Emmental when I think of Christmas.\u2019<\/p>\n

Others simply shared their love for the Very British Problems review, with some saying it had convinced them to try the Beef Wellington crisps.<\/p>\n

Helen Blew commented: \u2018Now I have to try them because of your review. I would never have even thought about them otherwise.\u2019<\/p>\n

While Matt Holvey posted: \u2018This is a wild review. I rarely come out from under my rock to post comments, but this needed saying. I give this review 6\/5 stars; almost too good.\u2019<\/p>\n

And Julia Buxton thought: \u2018This is hilarious. Surely a key \u201cBritish\u201d ingredient is a healthy dose of skepticism?\u2019<\/p>\n

The whole thing also got people reminiscing about other Walkers creations, that have tasted too much like the real thing.<\/p>\n

\u2018Remember when they did \u201cBuilder\u2019s Breakfast\u201d flavour, and they did somehow taste just like bacon egg and ketchup. I miss those,\u2019 said Matt Hallam.<\/p>\n

Karen Jewell seconded this, adding: \u2018They brought a load of Limited Edition flavours out a while back and the Builder\u2019s Breakfast really tasted like a fry-up. All the flavours came through including the fried egg! What a crisp sandwich that was. Sigh\u2026..\u2019<\/p>\n

Beef Wellingtons have been causing a stir elsewhere lately as well.<\/p>\n

Charlie Bingham recently received backlash after launching\u00a0a \u00a330 ready meal<\/a>\u00a0version of the classic British meal in\u00a0Waitrose<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, he was well and truly topped by\u00a0M&S<\/a>\u00a0and Tom Kerridge who are now selling one for an eye-watering \u00a3195 and it\u2019s been hailed as the \u2018ultimate showstopper\u2019 for Christmas dinner.<\/p>\n

Described as a \u2018whopper of a Wellington\u2019, the dish serves six people and features portobello mushrooms, chicken mousse duxelles and a hint of black truffle parceled up inside an all-butter hot water crust pastry, served with a beef and red wine gravy.<\/p>\n

Shoppers have been sharing their thoughts on the dish\u00a0on Reddit<\/a>, with many left flabbergasted by the price. A user known as u\/BocaSeniors!sM said: \u2018There\u2019s overspending at\u00a0Christmas<\/a>, then there\u2019s f***ing that!!\u2019<\/p>\n

While u\/Heavy-Schidna-3472 wrote: \u2018Lol, that\u2019s just ridiculous.\u2019<\/p>\n

u\/veeb did the math claiming it\u2019s \u2018\u00a332.50 per serving\/person\u2019 which they thought was \u2018insane\u2019.<\/p>\n

And u\/vicariousgluten agreed it would only be \u2018justifiable\u2019 if \u2018it included Tom Kerridge to do the cooking and cleaning up\u2019.<\/p>\n
