Tonight,\u00a0Strictly Come Dancing<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>makes its annual pilgrimage to Blackpool- and it\u2019s set to be one of the most\u00a0glorious\u00a0<\/strong>nights in the show\u2019s history, thanks largely to two stars.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s hard to imagine what this series of Strictly would have looked like without Lewis Cope and Amber Davies\u00a0stepping in.\u00a0These latecomers are, by\u00a0significant\u00a0distance, the best dancers in the competition.<\/p>\n

They are\u00a0in a completely different league,\u00a0performing at a level no one else in the contest could dream of reaching.\u00a0Albeit with previous dance experience,\u00a0<\/em>Lewis and Amber have been absolutely vital to this year\u2019s contest.<\/a><\/p>\n

Lewis is the only contestant to have\u00a0earned\u00a0a perfect 40, with one of \u2013 if not the \u2013 best dances I\u2019ve ever seen on Strictly.<\/p>\n

It was as good as anything you\u2019d pay an eye-watering price to see in the West End.<\/p>\n

The synchronicity, the charisma, the sheer skill \u2013 it was unbelievably impressive and will\u00a0undoubtedly\u00a0be the defining dance of this series, right up there with Jay McGuinness\u2019s Tango, Caroline Flack\u2019s show dance to Angels, and Rose Ayling-Ellis\u2019s\u00a0BAFTA winning\u00a0silent symphony.<\/p>\n

Outside of that routine, only one other dance has truly blown me away:\u00a0Karen Carney\u2019s debut Jive<\/a>, which shocked everyone and unexpectedly topped the very first leaderboard.<\/p>\n

Carney has been a revelation this year \u2013\u00a0but she hasn\u2019t been consistent.<\/a><\/p>\n

I imagine Lewis won\u2019t be the only member of the perfect-40 club after tonight. With the blockbuster production and electric energy pulsing through the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, it\u2019s understandable that the judges often become more\u00a0generous\u00a0with their 10 paddles.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s about time Amber and her partner Nikita Kuzmin landed a flawless\u00a0score\u00a0\u00a0Every single week she has delivered, but her Paso Doble\u00a0to Dream On by Aerosmith\u00a0last week was\u00a0utterly\u00a0breathtaking \u2013 completely unmissable from start to finish.<\/p>\n

Yet the former Love Islander has already found herself in the bottom two this series<\/a>:\u00a0proving\u00a0that previous dance training isn\u2019t always an advantage on Strictly; it can be a curse.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Personally,\u00a0I want\u00a0ER star\u00a0Alex Kingston and Johannes Radebe<\/a>\u00a0to lift the Glitterball \u2013\u00a0who earn my vote every week.<\/p>\n

Their chemistry is my favourite element of the entire series. Every week, Alex seems astonished by her own performance and the judges\u2019 feedback. I adore them both individually \u2013 but together, they\u2019re gold.<\/p>\n

But at the very least, Lewis and Amber\u00a0deserve\u00a0to make the semi-final, and one of them should absolutely be in the final, which this year\u00a0will\u00a0only\u00a0have\u00a0three\u00a0couples\u00a0due to the withdrawal of Neighbours star Stefan Dennis.<\/a><\/p>\n

Even with some middling scores, YouTube sensation George Clarke is still the hot favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing \u2013 which I\u2019m not mad about. I have a lot of affection for George:\u00a0his warmth, his vulnerability, and the fact he\u2019s genuinely one of the dancers I most enjoy watching.<\/a><\/p>\n

Still, George and Alex alone wouldn\u2019t have made this series such a\u00a0phenomenal\u00a0one. It would have been lost without the extraordinary talent of Lewis and Amber \u2013 a truth that\u00a0I think will\u00a0become even more abundantly clear tonight on the Blackpool stage.<\/p>\n

Both Lewis and Amber faced a much greater mountain to climb<\/a>\u00a0to win over public support from the start.\u00a0Each has been plagued by comments about their previous dance experience,<\/a>\u00a0as though seeing world-class dancing\u00a0in\u00a0<\/strong>a dance contest is somehow a bad thing.<\/p>\n

Had\u00a0neither\u00a0set foot on a stage before Strictly, I have no doubt\u00a0they\u2019d\u00a0be the favourites\u00a0to win.<\/a><\/p>\n

Without them, this series of Strictly could quite easily have fallen flat\u00a0and been rather unexceptional\u00a0. It\u2019s remarkable that they were\u00a0both\u00a0only drafted in from the reserve bench after Game of Thrones star Kristian Nairn and another\u00a0Love Island winner, Dani Dyer, had to withdraw with injuries.<\/a><\/p>\n

The public and their critics need to get over\u00a0celebrities with dance experience\u00a0appearing on Strictly: without them, it would be nothing more than a local talent show.<\/p>\n

Of course, there have been great dancers on Strictly without any dance or\u00a0theatre background;\u00a02020 winner,\u00a0Bill Bailey<\/a>\u00a0was phenomenal,\u00a0not to mention the oldest victor to date,\u00a0and last year\u2019s winner\u00a0Chris McCausland<\/a>\u00a0was one of the most memorable champions of all time.<\/p>\n

But there\u2019s no one in this current series who has shocked everyone by producing jaw-dropping routines each week without ever having had a dance lesson in their lives \u2013 so thank God we have some of the best talent there\u2019s ever been on Strictly to keep the excitement alive.<\/p>\n

Although I have a suspicion\u00a0Dani Dyer<\/a>\u00a0was going to be a surprising talent \u2013 I\u00a0had\u00a0even picked her as my front-runner before she was injured.\u00a0Touch wood that she can return next year and prove me right.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\u2019m absolutely devastated La Voix won\u2019t be competing\u00a0this week<\/strong><\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0when it feels like this was the moment she was born for.<\/p>\n

Hopefully she\u2019ll still be on the sidelines making her sharp quips and hysterical digs at Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman<\/a>, who will both be presenting their final Blackpool episode.<\/p>\n

But even without\u00a0the\u00a0drag queen<\/a>, this could be the most exciting Blackpool spectacular to date \u2013 thanks to\u00a0Lewis and Amber\u2019s\u00a0fab-u-lous talents.<\/a><\/p>\n

Instead of\u00a0rolling their eyes at Lewis and Amber\u2019s astonishing talent,\u00a0<\/a>Strictly viewers need to keep them both in the contest for as long as possible. Otherwise, they\u2019ll\u00a0quickly\u00a0find they miss them \u2013 a lot.<\/p>\n
