Fans may be up for another round of ridicule by their non-Guinness-drinking mates now that a controversial new twist on the iconic pub classic has dropped.<\/p>\n
Palmerstown House Pub, on Old Lucan Road in\u00a0Dublin<\/a>, just a short drive from St James\u2019s Gate Brewery, where Guinness is made, has introduced a \u201960\/40\u2032 blend which combines the\u00a0alcohol-<\/a>free Guinness 0.0 with the original ale.<\/p>\n The hybrid beverage aims to offer a lower-alcohol version of the classic at 1.7% ABV compared to the original\u2019s 4.2%.<\/p>\n The alcohol-free version is poured first, followed by the original.<\/p>\n The pub announced in a\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0post: \u2018Try our new \u201c60\/40\u201d in the Palmerstown House. All of the Guinness character, just a little lighter!<\/p>\n \u2018Great for when you\u2019re in the mood for a pint but with a little less alcohol! Just ask for a \u201c60\/40.\u201d\u2018<\/p>\n But punters are divided online \u2013 and critics haven\u2019t held back on giving honest feedback about the idea.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n One asked, \u2018What is the f*****g point of this?\u2019 and another said it\u2019s \u2018f**king ridiculous.\u2019<\/p>\n A third said it was a \u2018horrible idea\u2019 while a fourth declared it \u2018should be illegal\u2019.<\/p>\n Another said: \u2018It\u2019s classed as sacrilege if you mess with a pint of Guinness in Ireland.\u2019<\/p>\n But some fans are not so upset by the pub\u2019s new pint.<\/p>\n One wrote: \u2018Here we go again, the f*****g \u201cI don\u2019t want it, so no one else should be allowed to choose to have it.
