Former Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) called his 11-year prison sentence for corruption a \u201cpolitical prosecution,\u201d citing former President Trump\u2019s legal troubles as evidence of a biased justice system.<\/p>\n

Convicted of accepting bribes and acting as an agent for Egypt, Menendez became the first U.S. official found guilty of serving a foreign government while in office.<\/p>\n

Outside court, Menendez said, \u201cPresident Trump was right\u2026 this process is political and corrupt.\u201d He didn\u2019t say whether he would seek a pardon from Trump.<\/p>\n
