After moaning that he\u2019d \u2018had enough\u2019 of seeing \u2018beautiful things\u2019 during his historic state visit to the United Kingdom,\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0might put on a similar display for\u00a0King Charles<\/a>\u00a0in Washington next year.<\/p>\n

The monarch<\/a>\u00a0is set to travel across the pond to meet\u00a0President Trump<\/a>\u00a0next year and mark the 250th anniversary of the\u00a0United States<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s expected that the Americans will roll out the red carpet for the King, despite celebrating 250 years without British rule.<\/p>\n

Trump will also likely give a tour to Charles around\u00a0the White House<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 though he was quick to say that he won\u2019t show off as many historic items to the King.<\/p>\n

During his state visit this year, Trump joked, \u2018You know what? I\u2019m going to treat you to a state dinner, you can come to the US, and I\u2019m not going to drag you around the Lincoln Memorial.<\/p>\n

\u2018You can just have dinner and then go to bed.\u2019<\/p>\n

So much for the royal treatment.<\/p>\n

What was Trump shown during his state visit?<\/h2>\n

Though the US leader moaned during his visit that he\u2019d \u2018had enough\u2019 of seeing beautiful things \u2013 including a specially curated exhibition for Trump of all the historical items linked to the US.<\/p>\n

One of the items was a message sent by Queen Victoria to President James Buchanan in 1858, praising their friendship.<\/p>\n

There were also photos of Queen Elizabeth and King George VI with President Franklin D Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor.<\/p>\n

In a very American turn, Trump was shown a letter the Queen Mother wrote to her daughter, then Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II), about her visit to the US.<\/p>\n

\u2018My darling Lilibet,\u2019 the Queen Mother wrote.<\/p>\n

\u2018We sat at little tables under the trees round the house, and had all our food on one plate \u2013 a little salmon, some turkey, some ham, lettuce, beans & HOT DOGS too!\u2019<\/p>\n

What could Trump show King Charles during his visit?<\/h2>\n

Trump might take a page or two from Charles and create something similar for him to enjoy.<\/p>\n

The Smithsonian\u2019s National Museum of American History has a permanent collection about the Revolutionary War, with plenty of material focusing on the British part of the conflict.<\/p>\n

Plenty of British artefacts are inside the Smithsonian \u2013 including some linked to the royals. Trump might put them on display for Charles.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re also launching a special exhibit called \u2018In Pursuit of Life, Liberty and Happiness\u2019 to commemorate 250 years of America.<\/p>\n

That exhibit will span over three floors and feature the desk Thomas Jefferson used to write the Declaration of Independence.<\/p>\n

King Charles might also see the Resolute desk in the White House, made from the wood from the British Ship HMS Resolute. It was gifted to the United States.<\/p>\n

A historic trip in the works<\/h2>\n

The transatlantic trip will be subject to the King being well enough, with the 77-year-old head of state currently undergoing treatment for cancer.<\/p>\n

Charles was last in Washington, DC, for the funeral of former President George H.W. Bush in Washington, but he\u2019s met many Presidents.<\/p>\n

He is expected to be joined by his wife,\u00a0Queen Camilla<\/a>, for the landmark visit.<\/p>\n

Buckingham Palace<\/a>\u00a0has yet to comment on the planned trip.<\/p>\n

Charles has made more than a dozen overseas trips since becoming King, including state visits to France, Italy and\u00a0Kenya<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last month, he and the Queen both undertook a visit to the Holy See to meet\u00a0Pope Leo XIV<\/a>\u00a0to mark the jubilee year of the\u00a0Catholic Church<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As well as the planned state visit to the US next year, the King is also due to take a royal tour of\u00a0Canada<\/a>\u00a0in 2026.<\/p>\n
