A reported casualty on a Nottinghamshire rail track has been confirmed to be a teenage boy who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 14-year-old, who has been named only as Josh, was fatally struck by a train in Burton Joyce, near Nottingham, just after 7pm on Wednesday.
Paramedics attended the scene, near the village’s rail station, but could not save him.
Floral tributes were laid at a railway crossing a few minutes’ walk from the station which connects the village to the banks of the river Trent.

Detectives are not treating the incident as suspicious, though it’s expected that an inquest will be held.
Local MP Michael Payne said his ‘heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and loved ones of the 14-year-old who lost their life’.
‘No family should ever have to endure such a devastating loss, and I know the whole community will share in their grief,’ the Labour parliamentarian added.
‘I want to express my sincere thanks to the first responders who attended the scene.
‘At this incredibly difficult time, no further details are being released in order to respect the privacy of the family, who must be allowed the space and peace they need as they face the days ahead.
‘My thoughts remain with all those affected by this heartbreaking event. I know our community will keep the family in their hearts as they navigate this unimaginable loss.’
East Midlands Railway previously confirmed that major delays to two routes passing through Burton Joyce were connected to the incident.
