Passengers told not to travel after power outage at Leeds station sparks chaos

Rail users have been told not to travel after a power outage at Leeds station wrecked havoc to countless train services.

The outage led to a fault with the signalling system, leaving many services cancelled or delayed.

LNER services between London and Leeds and Bradford Forster Square have been affected.

All Northern services to and from Leeds have been disrupted, as well as a number of CrossCounty and TransPennine Express routes.

The chaos is expected to last until 3pm, according to National Rail, who are on site and investigating the problem.

LNER have told passengers not to travel today and instead defer their journeys until tomorrow.

Rail users will be able to user their tickets with other companies at no extra cost, the service said.
