Inside Simon Cowell’s transformation as he claims to do 1,000 push ups a day

Simon Cowell has revealed all in a chaotically candid new interview, discussing his physical transformation in depth.

From Botox to Cuban heels, the X Factor judge shared how he’s dramatically changed his appearance over the past few years after feeling ‘puffy’.

He’s presenting a new trimmer image after losing three stone, ready for new Netflix series, The Next Act, which has just dropped its first episode.

Simon, 66, scoured the country hoping to form a new boy band to follow up the success of One Direction over a decade ago.

The Sun interviewed him (while going through a McDonald’s drive-thru), and dug up some strange facts about the star’s lifestyle.

Simon claimed to do ‘about 40’ press ups ‘in one go’, with his daily total usually sitting between 300 and 600, or ‘If I’m really going for it, a thousand.’

Alongside his fitness regime, spurred on after breaking his back in 2020, Simon keeps a strict diet with no sugar, dairy, red meat or gluten and eats under 1,000 calories per day.

‘I had the diet of a schoolboy, and was told by a dietician it was the worst diet he’d ever seen. I have four 90-calorie beers a day, but pour half the beer out and make it a shandy.’

Simon Cowell’s diet

Simon ‘basically eats the same things every day’, starting off with a green protein smoothie, plenty of fruit porridge, and tea.

His lunch is a bit more stripped back, scranning half a hot cross bun no matter the time of year.

The Britain’s Got Talent star claimed he’s not taken any GL-P1s to aid his weight loss as he’s ‘never been tempted’.

There’s no gastric band either, but he has had LINX surgery to stop acid reflux, which is a keyhole procedure and minimally invasive.

He does, however, use intermittent fasting. Simon wraps up his dinner for the day at around 5pm to get 17 hours before his wake-up time at 10am.

Episode one of The Next Act sees his team in a panic, attempting to wake him up ahead of a breakfast interview at 7.45am.

This strict routine was broken in order to try a double Filet-o-Fish, telling the reporter: ‘Excitingly, we’re going into unknown territories now with the double fish burger. This is quite new, so I am very eager to try it.’

Apparently, he removed the bun and cheese, eating just three chips and the two fish patties.

Other revelations included him not knowing what TK Maxx is but loving Primark pjs, as well as once flying Easyjet to Spain – no private jets here.

Simon shared that he bathes four times a day, owns 200 identical charcoal grey t-shirts but only one pair of jeans, and regularly wears Cuban heels for the ‘extra inch’.

He also addressed his cosmetic procedures, echoing what he told The Daily Mail last week – he’s never had a facelift.

‘I’ve had Botox. I’ve had lasers and this and that. I look at myself sometimes and go, “Oh God, I look s**t.” Sometimes I think I look OK. I’m more about, “Is it real?” I guess that authenticity was my main thing,’ he said.

He also shared: ‘Breaking my back, weirdly, was a good thing, because I hadn’t realised how unfit I was. Everything was spiralling badly down before that. So the exercise I had to do to recover and the diet change got me to where I am.’

Previously, Simon has also revealed that he stays young by ‘washing his own blood’ and freezing himself.

‘I go to this wellness clinic where they actually take your blood, they rinse it, they filter it, they put it back into your body,’ he explained in an interview with the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast.

As for his professional life, he’s hoping his new boy band might recapture some of that One Direction magic.

Ahead of the series, Simon revealed he would not be looking for talent who were previously signed or already working in the industry, instead wanting undiscovered stars.

The show is a mix of the classic X Factor formula and reality TV, sprinkling in insight into his home life with fiancée Lauren Silverman and son Eric, 11.

‘His routines drive me nuts but a leopard doesn’t change its spots, does it?’ Lauren, 48, said.
