Double decker bus filled with 20 passengers crashes into shop in London

A packed bus has mounted a curb and ploughed into a shop on an east London high street.

The 474 bus to Manor Park rammed into an off-licence in Station Road at around 9am on Thursday.

The London Fire Brigade said there were around 20 passengers on board when it crashed.

One person has been taken to hospital, they added. A Met investigation has been launched into what caused the collision.

Video appears to show ambulances and police arriving at the scene as the double-decker ends up sideways in the road.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to hold back members of the public.

Shopkeeper Ninoshan Jeyaseelan, who owns the shop, said the crash was ‘just insane’.

He told BBC London: ‘We just had a big bang sort of thing and the person who was driving (the bus), she was in shock herself.’

‘I don’t know how long it’s gonna take to recover from it.’

‘No one’s majorly injured you know – thank God.’
