A teenager has been charged with manslaughter after a woman died following an assault outside a bar in Tyneside.

Lisa Denton, 40, sustained serious injuries in a suspected assault at Charlie’s Bar in North Shields, just after 10pm on Saturday.

Her sister, Gillian, said on Facebook yesterday that Lisa had been ‘punched in the face’ and was now ‘fighting for her life’ in intensive care.

Gillian’s fiancé, Dean, has since confirmed that Lisa died a short time later.

He added: ‘She was deeply loved, and her loss has left a hole in our hearts that cannot be put into words.
